What is a Whole Home Water Filter System and What Does it Do?
Hey everybody. It’s James with Jila Water, and in our ongoing series of answering frequently asked questions today, we’re going to talk about whole house filtration. What is a whole home water filter system? Well, a whole home water filter system could be a lot of things, depending on what you’re filtering.

If we’re on a tank supply, as an example, we could be very elaborate. We could have. Sediment mechanical filtration, an ultraviolet system, and a water softener filter can be used. We’re removing debris and disinfecting the water as it comes into the house, the whole home water filter system on a city water supply.

It could be purely just to get rid of sediment and get rid of chlorine or chloramines. The Jila Water whole house water filter system works by treating all the water going into all our client’s homes. So every drop of water that’s going into washing machines into dishwashers, even into the coffee brewer, and out of your shower head is all being filtered by our whole home water filter system.

That’s what we mean by a whole home water filter system. What does an entire home water filter system do, I hear you ask? Whatever your water filter design is, it’s going to be used to filter out all the things you don’t want in your home’s water supply. It could be hardness; it could be chlorine. It could be just chloramines determined that can also be found in your water. Several elements are in the water supply that you want to filter out.

What a whole home water filter system will be comprised of depends on the needs of the home. If it’s iron or other minerals you might want you to get it out with a water softener filter. It could be even more involved through a process called aeration or oxidation. It’s really driven by what it is. That’s in the water that’s undesirable and makes water a problem for your home.

That’s what a whole home water filter system is. Are there different types and designs of whole-home water filter systems? The answer to that is absolute. It is definitely going to come down to the kind of issues and what your water is like, the kind of problems that you’re trying to eliminate with that whole home. If you’re on city water, the big one is getting rid of the chlorine taste and odor that comes with the disinfectant that local councils and water treatment companies put in our water supply.

And it’s a good thing they treat the water they do because, as you know, we don’t see people dying from cholera or typhoid or cholera or dip theory anymore because the water system has been disinfected by the treatment works. Still, once it gets to your home, you can remove that chlorine because you’re going to use it. And you’re going to also use it to wash clothes without having chlorine elements in the water.

There are benefits of taking a shower without chlorine, and you certainly don’t have to drink the chlorine. The variety of products, the variety of processes, and different treatments are just as varied as the number of different things found in the water. There’s a probably out there depending upon the problems, whether they be chemical, whether it be mineral or some type of gas like hydrogen sulfide, you know, the rotten egg smell, so there’s a variety of stuff.

As you can guess, there are various techniques and different steps that the Jila Water team could need to use to get rid of all those things. So the list is pretty extensive. When you answer the question of how are there different types of home water filter system fields. What is the difference between a whole home water filter system and an under-counter drinking water system?

Well, the whole home water filter system is dealing with the point of entry as the water is coming into your home, and we’re treating and filtering the water that is used in the home. This includes all the water that’s used in the home. The water that’s used in the washing machine. When you are flushing toilets or taking a shower and even when you’re brushing your teeth.

We call the point of view when it’s under the counter, or maybe even on the countertop that is a filtration system that’s designed specifically for the water that you’re going to consume or drink, water that you’re going to cook with, maybe run to an ice machine in the fridge. So the whole home water filter system is the point of entry, with every drop of water throughout the house.

For an under-counter system, that’s what we call the point of view, and that’s for water that we’re going to use it, in drinking, mixing, uh, beverages and cooking with what does a whole house system removed from the water? Well, as I said before, there are a lot of different avenues, a lot of other techniques, and a lot of additional processes you may have to also go through, but a correctly designed system can be designed to take out pretty much everything that is causing you trouble.

How do you install a whole home water filter system? The main thing you need to think about is in what order to filter and treat the water that’s going through the house; that home water filter system needs to be fitted straight after the mains meter and at the earliest point possible where the water comes into your home.

As mentioned, this is going to be right after the mains in your front yard. That way, we catch and filter every drop of water that’s going into your home. Working hard to reduce the chlorine that’s added to our city water supply. We can reduce sediment, and when there’s an occasion where the city’s disinfection process fails or equipment doesn’t work correctly, or a catastrophic event like a flood, you know your water is being treated before you drink it.

Why might you use or want a whole house system?

Well, it kind of comes down to the types of issues that are causing you and your family problems that are in your water. So do you have a lot of hardware? If so, then you would probably want a solution that will soften the water for your home. If you have other elements causing you problems coming from your home’s tank supply, like manganese or iron, then you’re going to want to have an entire home water filter system fitted to help with the process for that on a city supply.

Getting rid of chlorine is probably a good idea. It really kind of comes back to what kind of problems are you having. Are you getting tired of the stains in the toilet? Are you getting tired of scraping the hard residue off of the ship? Then, you’re going to want to look at a whole home water filter system.

What are some of the different types of advantages of having a whole home water filter system? The advantages depend upon what different problems and issues you’re trying to solve in your home’s water. All of that kind of goes away if you install a whole home water filter system, that can be advantageous as well in a Brisbane city water supply that has hard water, a lot of city water supplies can have lots of different mineral content, and this all comes down the source of the water.

Now specifically, if it’s a groundwater source, you’re going to see a lot more. If you’ve got different chemical issues, the main advantage is that then you’re removing those harsh chemicals before you and your family are taking showers in that water, or you’re running your washing machine with it, it advantages of a whole home water filter system are enormous.
